Ada is on the verge of economic boom – DCE

Infrastructure development and natural resources availability are attracting foreign investors to Ada, which will boost economic growth and tourism, Ms Sara Dugbakie Pobee, the Ada East District Chief Executive, said on Friday.

“People from all walks of life, especially Ghanaians, would not travel all the way to Dubai and Florida for adventure because the serenity, tranquillity and other facilities that lure them to those countries will be positioned at Ada East,” she said.

   

Madam Pobee said this during an investment forum organised by the Ada East District Assembly, in collaboration with key development partners, aimed at sensitising residents of the projects to be undertaken in the Municipality.

The DCE said the potentials of the area were numerous and called for other investors to tap into them.

   

She said the Assembly was evaluating and implementing uplift ecotourism to preserve the biodiversity for community growth and for tourism.

The One District One Factory initiative would also help for job creation and capital inflow to the District for economic growth, Madam Pobee said.

   

Companies, which made presentations on their proposed projects for the area, included the Ossa Food Ltd, an agribusiness firm that would engage in rearing and slaughtering of pigs to produce harm and sausages and teach small scale pig farmers effective methods in pig rearing.

Another company, the EPSIP Company Limited, an Egyptian firm, whose principal activities include marine equipment maintenance, mechanical and electrical engineering and manufacturing and maintenance of boats, and currently involved in the expansion of Tema Harbour MPS Technical project, aims to make Ada a fishing vessel hub.

Nene Agudey Obitchere III, representative of the Ada Transitional Council, urged the youth to support the initiate by making themselves available to the training by the companies.

   

He said the benefits would include income generation, employment, markets for local products and improved standard of living for the local people.

   

Other companies, which had expressed interest in working in the District, included TRASACCCO Estate Development Company Ltd that aims at establishing a  five-star hotel to enhance ecotourism, ElectroChem Company Limited, to maximize salt production from the Sangor Lagoon, DEF’TRACO group, DAN’S MA Company Ltd  and DELORA Stock Ltd.
