The 108th league meeting between Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will certainly decide who emerges winner of 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL).
The two Ghanaian footballing giants, Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are tied on 56 points following their match-week 30 2-1 win against Karela United and Legon Cities respectively.
Both sides have been ruthless in their past matches with Kotoko unbeaten in 11 matches across all competitions while Hearts’ are unbeaten in 10.
Both sides come into this clash in top form with Kotoko having the best defence in the league while Hearts second-best attack (42 goals) with Dreams leading the pack with 44 goals.
It is worth mentioning that the first leg encounter between both sides back in February ended in the goalless draw with both sides having struggled at the start of the season having changed managers.
Key Players to Watch
Fabio Gama
Despite joining the Porcupine Warriors halfway through the season, Fabio Gama has been the game-changer for the Porcupine Warriors with his goals and assists which has enabled him to bag three man-of-the-match awards.
Gama has scored five goals for the Porcupine Warriors and has made six assists so far this season and would be an important player for the Porcupine Warriors in this clash with Kotoko aiming for their 24th league title.
Emmanuel Gyamfi
The Kotoko Captain has been the most improved player for the Porcupine Warriors since Mariano Barreto joined the team and has scored in his last three games.
Gyamfi is certainly the danger man for Kotoko having scored five out of Kotoko last six games and would certainly feature in the Super Clash despite being charged for misconduct in Kotoko’s game against Inter Allies.
Salifu Ibrahim
The attacking midfield gem has been the difference for Hearts this season despite joining them midway through the season. He currently has the most (eight) Man-of-the-Match awards during his spells at both Eleven Wonders and Hearts.
Salifu’s work rate in the heart of the midfield is something that has earned him commendation from the Hearts faithful coupled with midas touch in the final third, having produced numerous assists.
Daniel Afriyie Barnieh
Barnieh has provided the cutting edge for the Phobians and has been consistent with his performance over the past few matches.
His recent sublime assist against Legon Cities further demonstrates how crucial the youngster is to Samuel Boadu’s set up and will be an important player for them in their last four matches as they quest to end their 11-year trophy drought.
