HONORABLE ALBAN BABGIN SWORN IN AS SPEAKER OF THE 8TH PARLIAMENT

Date:

Chief Justice Enin Yeboah this morning swore in Honorable Alban Bagbin as Speaker of Parliament.

The Chief Justice aided by the Judicial Secretary swore in the speaker after his election was announced by the Clerk of Parliament.

The election of the speaker was fraught with snatching of ballots and confusion which led to stall in the proceedings for several hours.

Calm was eventually restored and leader of the house met behind closed doors to resolve the confusion.

After the swearing in and signing, he was robed in the speaker’s robes and quickly got on with the day’s business.

In his acceptance speech he promised to submit himself to the will of Parliament.
