NCCE takes Parliamentary Candidates debate to Wassa Amenfi-East

Wassa Akropong (WR), Dec 05 -The Municipal Chief Executive of Wassa Amenfi East, Mrs Helena Appiah has advised parliamentary Candidates in the Constituency to focus their campaigns on developmental issues that would ensure peace before, during and after the December polls.
 
She also urged them to be civil and avoid the use of intemperate language that could foment trouble and possibly mar the electoral process.
 
Mrs Appiah said this during the Wassa Amenfi East Constituency parliamentary Candidates debate organized by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with Inter Party Dialogue Committee to promote issue-based campaigns devoid of rancor, insults and violence and to ensure informed voting.
 
“Talk to the electorate about what you can do to move the Constituency and the nation forward and not issues that will bring division, rancor, tension and violence” she stressed.
 
Mr Daniel Akyeampong Boateng, Municipal Director of NCCE said the debate would provide the opportunity for the Parliamentary Candidates to market their party manifestos to the electorate, encourage issue-based campaigns and get them to be accountable to their Constituents.
 
He tasked the Parliamentary Candidates to address the issues raised in the NCCE Research into matters of concern to Ghanaian voters in the areas of health, education, employment and agriculture.
 
He lauded the Parliamentary aspirants from the NDC, NPP and GUM for participating in the debate stressing that their presence would help bring peaceful campaigns in the Constituency.
 
Mr Boateng advised the candidates and their party supporters to eschew violent acts.
 
The candidates used the opportunity to present their visions in the areas of education, Agriculture, health and employment.
 
Present at the debate were DSP Simon Sethoglo, District police Commander, Pastor Fiifi Adams , chairman Local Council of Churches, Mrs Alice Graf-Adjei, former CODEO Regional Coordinator and Mr Michael Berkye Secretary of Local Council of Churches.
