Traders ignore social distancing to observe fire outbreak at Apremdo

Date:

The protocols of social distancing and staying at home became meaningless to many traders at the Apremdo market, when they all rushed in numbers to view a fire outbreak in the area.

The fire, which started around 1:26pm Wednesday afternoon, destroyed 12 stalls and killed a two year old boy, according to the Western Regional Office of the Ghana National Fire Service.

Majority of the people who thronged the fire scene were also without nose masks, a clear violation of the protective rules on COVID-19 prevention and control measures.

Already, the Region has 25 confirmed cases of the virus.

Meanwhile, officials of the Fire Service managed to control and extinguish the fire and brought the situation under control.
