Inner road works of Police Hospitals commence

Date:

Works on the 2.5-kilometre inner roads at the Ghana Police Hospital aimed at facilitating the smooth movement of patients within departments in the hospital has commenced.

The project valued at GHC five million is the second hospital after Korle-bu Teaching Hospital, which is benefiting from the government’s vision to give a facelift to all major public hospitals in the country

Mr Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways, disclosed this on Tuesday when he visited the Police Hospital in Accra to inspect work on-going at the facility.

He said the work would include filling of potholes, asphalting and road marking to ensure that the environment of such important facilities was clean to aid the healing of sick persons.

“When you visit some of these facilities, you are greeted by big potholes and dust which is not good for patients and even the health workers. It is only if the workers are healthy that they will be able to take care of patients,” he said.

Mr Amoako Attah said the asphalting would also include the Head Quarters of the Police Service in Accra.

Officials of the Police Hospitals including Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Madam Mariam Tettey Korboe, the Medical Director of the Police Hospital and DCOP David Senanu Eklu, the Administrator of the Hospital welcomed the Minister.

DCOP Korboe, thanked the government for the gesture and said the project had come at an opportune time and that it would ease internal transportation.
