Methodist Church inducts new Lay Chairman

Date:

The Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana (MCG) has inducted Mr. Kwabena Appiadjei Asante-Krobea, a legal practitioner, as the new Lay Chairman at a ceremony at the Adum Wesley Cathedral, Kumasi.

Mr. Asante-Krobea, who has served the Diocese in several capacities, takes over from Professor Seth Opuni Asiamah for a three-year term of office.

The Right Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam, the Diocesan Bishop, asked him to strive to bring his expertise to bear for the accelerated growth of the laity.

This is because the laity remains the foundation for evangelical activities intended to salvage the society from evil deeds.

It also played critical role in the physical development of the church, helping to mobilize the needed resources for health, educational and infrastructural development purposes.

Right Rev. Nyarko Andam reminded the laity of the need for it to work closely with the clergy as they sought to transform the society for the better.

He called on the new Lay Chairman to endeavour to continue with the vision of his predecessors for sustainable growth of Methodism.

Mr. Asante-Krobea said in the wake of the ascendancy in social vices, the laity had a lot of work to do in shaping the thoughts of the people positively to engender upright lives.

“Our core business as a church is to search and win souls for the Lord,” he observed.

He called for the support of the leadership and members of the laity in the discharge of his duties to help achieve successfully his mission and vision.
