Accra Technical University topples all in maiden GHATUSA Games

Accra Technical University (ATU) were crowned the overall best team in this year’s  Ghana Technical Universities Sports Association (GHATUSA) Games.

        ATU hosted and won the games after picking up 15 gold, 13 silver and eight bronze medals, making a total of 36 medals, followed by Takoradi Technical University with 14 gold, 10 silver and nine bronze medals totaling 33 medals.    

  Koforidua Technical University came third with five gold, six silver and seven bronze medals also totaling 18 medals.      

Tamale Technical University, Kumasi Technical University, Cape Coast Technical University, Sunyani Technical University, Ho Technical University, Bolga Polytechnic and Wa Polytechnic finished fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth respectively on the medal table.

      The women’s team of Takoradi Technical University were adjudged the overall best women’s team, while ATU men’s team were crowned the overall best men’s team.      

Professor Kwesi Yankah, Minister of State in charge of Tertiary Education, in his remarks at the closing ceremony held at the Accra Sports Stadium, was grateful to the Local Organising Committee for making the games very successful.    

 He stressed the important role of sports in promoting discipline among students and urged students to put up good behaviour in their respective endeavors.       

Professor Edmund Ameko, Vice- Chancellor of Accra Technical University, in his remarks, congratulated all participating athletes and stated that every athlete has been a winner during the games and was delighted with the successful hosting of the games.      

 Tamale Technical University will host the next edition of the GHATUSA games slated for 2021.
